Learning from my parents who grew up knowing the benefits of natural remedies and organic herbs, I absorbed some of their knowledge of the power of holistic wellness. My father, who grew up on a farm, became a medical doctor and took the knowledge of his childhood into his profession, knowing that the benefits of both modern medicine and holistic care can be intermingled. Even after practicing for close to 50 years, his beliefs have remained the same. My mother has always understood the world of herbal, natural care and always resorted to some homemade concoction to aid us in our childhood ailments, bumps, bruises and sore bodies as we grew up.
I lost touch with this part of my childhood as time passed and I pursued my own professional career in law, but as life went on, there were always instances where something would take me back and I would resort to the old childhood remedies that I learned from my parents.
In 2019, I started looking into natural alternatives when our dog Sonny was diagnosed with kidney disease and feeding him store-bought kibble only worsened the problem. I began researching how to control the protein in his diet that was essential for renal insufficiency and would help support his kidneys. It then morphed into finding a way of helping my other dogs, Lambo with rashes and sores that would develop on his body and my girl, Mocha with boosting collagen as she ages. I slowly started expanding my newfound appreciation for natural products not just for my pets, but for family members and myself and my long nights of studying began.
With my mom as my biggest “culprit”, my dad as my sounding board, and my husband as my greatest supporter as well as my go-to, willing guinea pig, along with the rest of my family, my passion for formulating holistic products and the desire to launch my new endeavor and bring A to Z Apothecary from my basement to your homes became a mission.
I am a firm supporter of Western medicine and always listen to my doctor - as I hope you do also - but my researching and studying opened a doorway into the journey of herbalism, kindling an enthusiasm to obtain my certification. After over a 100 hours of courses for Herbal Medicine and Natural Remedies and on-going studies for Clinical Herbalism through The Herbal Academy, I have become a forever student, learning, crafting, mixing recipes using what nature has given us from spices, to oils, and herbs that help me bring to you products that will make your inner and outer radiance shine through.
